I just finished processing this wedding a few hours ago; looking at it and comparing it to some of my earlier weddings I’ve come a really long way! The main thing I’ve been working on this year has been posing and keeping clients relaxed and happy – I used to focus so much on the technical aspects of lighting and composition that I missed expressions and then by the end of a shoot, everybody would just be tired and ready to go home… Needless to say it’s a lot more fun to shoot when you’re busy joking around… Now my problem is looking around and thinking, “Oh geez, it’s getting dark! I’m out of time!”… And the clients are still up for more!
Tara and Brandon are from the Tri-Cities in Washington, and decided to elope! I have to say – it was the most relaxed wedding I’ve ever gotten to shoot. The ceremony was at Community Congregational Church in downtown McCall, and then we had a few hours after to run around town afterwards and went back to Shore Lodge to relax out on the lake and take a few more photos.
I one of the most fun things about being a wedding photographer is having those times you get to break away from the pack and run around and do a really fun, different shoot like this one! It definitely makes all the stress and preparation and long hours that come with being wedding photographers worth it.
